Freeman, William
fl.1872-1890

Hull architect, especially of PM chapels in Hull and the East Riding. His larger PM chapels were generally distinguished by their Italianate style, with their flanking towers on the main façade. These included Carlisle Terrace, Goole (1873-74), Trinity, Gainsborough (1877), Ebenezer, Spring Bank, Hull (1877-78), Central, Bridlington (1879) and Hessle Road, Hull (1880). Of these, only Hessle Road remains, now in secular use. Perhaps his largest and most ambitious project was Temple, Great Yarmouth (1875-76). Only Withernsea (1878-79) remains in Methodist use.
