Hayes, Ernest Henry
1881-1969

Pioneer in Sunday School teaching methods, born on 28 August 1881. His The Child in the Midst (1916) was frequently reprinted and had considerable influence. As secretary of the British Lessons Council for 35 years, he was responsible for the Concise Guides, predecessor of Partners in Learning. He later worked for the Religious Education Press and produced material for day-school use. He died at Wallington,Surrey on 15 September 1969
