Jones, Thomas
1785-1864

Early IM leader in Liverpool. He was expelled from the Welsh WM society in 1818 for his objections to the use of the Poor Fund and the payment of ministers. He founded an IM church on the basis of the equality of all members and an unpaid ministry and was President of the IM Connexion 1834-35. At his own expense he sent missionaries into Wales to establish churches and as a result the Minor Wesleyans (Wesle Bach) movement joined the IM for a time. The Liverpool church seceded in 1838 and joined the WMA and Jones served for a time on the WMA Connexional Committee. He died in December 1864.
