Jones, Dr Thomas
1802-1891; e.m. 1828

Born in 1802 or 1803 at Mydroilyn, Cardiganshire. A preacher of great power and eloquence, he became the acknowledged leader of Welsh WM in South Wales in the mid-nineteenth century, being Chairman of that District 1846-1866. He initiated and was first editor (1848-49) of Y Winllan and edited Yr Eurgrawn, 1836-39 and 1857-59. In 1839 he published a volume in Welsh to celebrate the centenary of WM and in 1866 received an honorary DD from the University of Lawrence, Wisconsin. He died on 1 July 1891.
