Kirsop, Joseph
1826-1911; e.m. 1851

WR and UMFC minister, born in Glasgow on 1 November 1826. From 1853 he was in English circuits and from the 1860s held a number of District and Connexional offices, being elected President in 1875. A keen supporter of overseas work, he published several missionary biographies and in 1894 became editor of the newly founded Missionary Echo. Among many other works he wrote the valuable Historic Sketches of Free Methodism (1885). He died on 8 May 1911 in Southport, Lancs..
