Lay Witness Movement

The movement originated in the Institute of Church Renewal, Atlanta, USA and extended to British Methodism following an exploratory visit in 1975 by officers of the Institute. The first mission was in Bolsover in 1976. Developing largely under lay leadership, it is now a registered charity. Weekend missions offer three different programmes, with an emphasis on deeper commitment within the local church. Missions are not restricted to Methodism and the Movement, whilst officially recognized, is not directed by the Church.
