Marratt, Professor Howard W.
1926-2004; e.m. 1946

He was born on 5 May 1926 in Leicester and graduated in Classics (1946) and Theology (1950) at London University. He was Assistant Tutor at Didsbury College, Bristol 1950-1952, but after four years in circuit left the ministry for a teaching career, being reinstated in1973. From 1962 to 1987 he was head of the Divinity Department and later deputy principal at Borough Road College Institute of Education, Isleworth. In 1987 he was appointed Professor of Religious Education at the West London Institute of Higher Education. He was also involved in preparing agreed syllabuses, in educational research and in a TV series on world faiths. He died at St. Helier, Jersey on 4 October 2004.
