Ogden, James
1827-1915; e.m. 1851

President of the MNC Conference in 1878, born on 24 April 1827 at Ashton-under-Lyne. He retired to Ashton in 1891 and was Home Missions Secretary from then until 1900. He died on 8 August 1915.

His son, Joseph Ogden (1865-1955; e.m. 1884) was born in London. He entered the MNC ministry from the Barnsley Circuit and was trained at Ranmoor College. While he was at the West Hunslet Mission, Dewsbury Road in the Leeds (Hunslet) Circuit, the Welsh Revival was experienced there. During his ministry from 1901 to 1906 its membership quadrupled. This led to the opening of Trinity, Tempest Road in 1907. He died on 23 September 1955.
