WM missionary in China, born at Exeter on 20 February 1861. He sailed for Hupeh, China in 1886, where he worked until 1907. As the first Chairman of the Hunan District, 1907-21, he encouraged Church growth under Chinese leadership. He died at Hunan on 6 January 1927. He and his wife, who predeceased him in 1918, are buried together in Changsha, Hunan.
