Vice-President of the Conference in 2007-8, was, born inMansfield, Nottinghamshire and educated at Sherwood Hall Grammar School, Mansfield and Birmingham Polytechnic. She gained the MBA degree and Chartered Membership of the Institute of Personnel and Development at Aston University in 1991. After a series of posts in Human Resources with industrial companies, local government, and charitable organisations, she was appointed Co-ordinating Secretary for Human and Financial Resources in the newly created Connexional Team in 1998 following the death of Roy Foulds. In 2005 she became Assistant Serjeant-at-Arms in the House of Commons and in 2008 returned to work in the charitable sector as Director of Corporate Services for Hestia Housing and Support. In May 2013 she became Director of Human Resources for MHA.

She became a local preacher in 1982 and has an active interest in youth work and campaigning on issues of social justice. She has served as a Trustee of a number of charitable organisations including Action for Children. In 2001 she became a member of the World Methodist Council and in 2011 was appointed as Chair of its Finance Committee and a member of the Steering Committee.
