Buxton-Thomas, Dr. Muriel Simisola
1945-2016

An African Methodist, born on 16 May 1945, probably in Ghana, she qualified in Medicine and Nuclear Medicine at Newcastle University in 1971 and was awarded an MSc in Nuclear Medicine in 1978. She was appointed a senior registrar at Addenbrooks in the early 1980s and from 1984 to 1992 was Consultant Physician in Nuclear Medicine at St. Thomas Hospital and Medway Hospital. As Clinical Director of Nuclear Medicine at Kings College, she oversaw the move of her department to new premises in the Golden Jubilee wing and became widely known though her service on many committees., remaining very active in academic and clinical research after her retirement from Kings in 2010.

An active Methodist, she was Church Treasurer at Southfields Methodist Church in the Wandle Valley Circuit. She died on 16 October 2016.
