Drummond, Maurice Andrew
1832-1915; e.m. 1855

PM minister, born at New Penshaw, Co. Durham. He itinerated almost entirely in the north-east. He was the son of a coalminer, but with a claim to be of aristocratic descent. The Edinburgh Court of Sessions acknowledged that his father was heir to the Earldom of Perth and Drummond, as the lineal descendant of the attainted Earl who fought for the Jacobites in 1745 and, with a price on his head, settled secretly on the Wear. He died on 20 February 1915.
