Ellis, Martin John
1943-2020

Musician, born in London on 23 September 1943 and educated at the City of London School and the Royal College of Music. He taught at Taunton School 1973-1986 and then at Reigate Grammar School. He was organist at the Anglican/Methodist St. Martin's church in Dorking. On the formation of the British Methodist Youth Choir in 1982 he became its Musical Director. He edited the four volumes of Novello's Church Choir Library (1978-1981) and co-edited the Companion to the Lectionary, vol. 2, Hymns and Anthems (1983) and was involved in the editing of Hymns and Psalms, to which he contributed several tunes and arrangements including HP 309, named after Taunton School.
