Evans, Alfred
1879-1967; e.m. 1903

Originally from Southampton, he trained for the BC ministry at Shebbear College and was appointed to the BC mission in South-west China in 1905. He married a fellow missionary, Bessie Alice Bull of Wroxall, IOW, in 1907. Among other appointments he was Convener of the District Meeting 1928-1930, but is best remembered for his up-building of the society in Kunming into a strong Church. His wife died in 1941 and he superannuated in 1943, but remained as an elder statesman in Kunming and, after 1951, in Hong Kong until his death on 4 February 1967.
