The Company was formed on 7 April 1933 by the amalgamation of the three groups undertaking insurance on behalf of the three branches of Methodism united in 1932 (the WM Trust Assurance Company, set up in 1872, the PM Insurance Company (1866) and the UM Church Guarantee Fund (1910)). It specializes in the insurance of properties belonging to the Methodist Church and its associated organizations, but in recent years has broadened it scope to serve a wide public. As part of its Christian witness its investment portfolio is constructed on a basis consistent with the moral stance and teachings of the Methodist Church.
