In 1885 a bequest by David Borrie who, so far as was known, had no connection with Methodism but was an Elder of the Free Church of Scotland, provided for the erection of a WM church, with the gift of his house for a manse, in a place where there was then no Methodist society. The building, designed by David Smart of Perth, opened for worship in 1887 but has now closed. A notable feature, still preserved, was the stained glass memorial window by Robert Bell RA, subscribed by 13,000 men of the Labour Corps in gratitude for the Soldiers' Club run by the church in World War I.
