'Field Bible'

John Wesley's pocket Bible was known as such because it was printed by John Field in 1653 in pearl 24mo. In the copy Wesley obtained in 1766 from a Thomas Short, he listed a few misprints on the last flyleaf, adding the note: 'By these three marks know a genuine Field Bible.' In 1788 he gave it to Henry Moore, whose executors handed it to the WM Conference in 1844. At that year's Conference John Scott presented it to Jabez Bunting and since then it has been handed down from President to President at the opening of each Conference.
