Guardian Representatives

Guardian Representatives were created by the MNC Deed Poll (1846). Twelve ministers and twelve laymen, representative of all parts of the Connexion, were appointed for life by Conference, to have permanent seats in Conference and vacancies were filled by Conference. A minimum of six Representatives had to attend Conference to give it a legal existence, but they had no power to obstruct business. The UM Constitution also included Guardian Representatives, but they were elected for six years only.
