A Sileby lace-maker, he was a PM local preacher on the Loughborough Section of the Nottingham Circuit in 1818. He appeared on the stations in 1819 as appointed to Loughborough and was present in 1820 at the first PM Conference, where he was elected President. But he disappeared from the stations the following year; in 1822 he was again listed on the Loughborough Circuit plan, apparently as a local preacher.
