Hocken, Edward
1788-1875; e.m. 1825

BC itinerant, born at Treveighan, Michaelstow, Cornwall. He helped to establish the BC Preachers' Annuitant Society and the monthly Arminian [later Bible Christian] Magazine. He was Secretary to the Conference in 1836, but then resigned. He was among those who resisted William O'Bryan's suspected take-over of the chapel properties and it may be significant that the chapel he built at Treveighan in 1828 survives, with his initials still on the datestone over the door.
