Welsh WM minister, brought up in Dolgellau and apprenticed to a tailor. Converted under WM preaching in 1827, he served as a local preacher and lay agent before being accepted for the ministry. He gained a wide reputation as a preacher and popular lecturer on religious subjects. A volume of his sermons was published in 1877. He published in Welsh a Defence of Wesleyanism against the Fly Sheets (which had troubled circuits in Wales) and a revised translation into Welsh of Wesley's Explanatory Notes upon the NT, and was one of the editors of the Welsh hymn-book of 1845.
