PM itinerant, born on 31 December 1861 in Coventry. After training at the Manchester PM Institute, he served mainly in the North and the Isle of Man. He was General Missionary Secretary, 1918-23 and President of the Conference in 1924; Chairman of the Chapel Aid Association, 1927-32, Moderator of the FCFC, 1931 and President of the National Council of Evangelical Free Churches, 1932. His wife Maggie Ann was a daughter of Sir William Hartley. He died on 31 August 1932.
