Johnson, Leslie W.
1905 - 1986

The third son of J.W. Johnson (1874-1949), a bank manager and circuit steward, and Jane (nee Wade) (1874-1922), he was born on 9 July 1905 in Whitby, Yorks. into a staunchly WM family. After Bradford Grammar School and Cambridge University he taught in London and then became Headmaster of Shebbear College in 1933. From there he moved with his family to teach in Wallasey (1942-48) before serving as Headmaster of Exmouth Grammar School (1948-65), remaining in Exmouth in retirement. He died in February 1986. He was the brother of Raynor Johnson and Myra Johnson.
