WR and UMFC minister, born in Glasgow on 1 November 1826. From 1853 he was in English circuits and from the 1860s held a number of District and Connexional offices, being elected President in 1875. A keen supporter of overseas work, he published several missionary biographies and in 1894 became editor of the newly founded Missionary Echo.
