Irish Methodist minister, born on 28 August 1908 in Belfast and nurtured in the Christian Endeavour at Ormeau Road church. Encouraged to accept an appointment as Lay Evangelist on the Dundrum and Newcastle Circuit, he then trained for the ministry at Edgehill College. His preaching reflected his wide reading and deep spirituality. He served for thirteen years as secretary of the Board of Examiners and was Methodist Chaplain to the Stormont Parliament. One of his hymns was included in the Methodist Sunday School Hymn Book (1950). Compelled to retire to Bangor in 1967 through ill health, he died on 6 December 1976.
