Methodist Philatelic Society

The Philatelic Society was formed in 1970 for the study and encouragement of philately associated with Methodism and those united churches and ecumenical activities with which it is associated. Churches, individuals and anniversaries featured on postage stamps, postmarks, philatelic covers and meter frankings have been reported from over sixty countries in the Society's newsletter, which includes articles on stamps featuring biblical illustrations and hymns, Methodist postcards and the postal history of missionary correspondence. Many churches have marked an anniversary or other special event by issuing a souvenir cover, and since 1970 there have been annual covers in connection with the British Conference.
