WM missionary in China, born on 30 July 1888 at Weston-super-Mare. After two years as Assistant Tutor at Handsworth College, he worked for the Student Christian Movement. In 1922 he went to the South China District and in 1930 was seconded to the National Christian Council of China for 17 years. Returning home in 1947 he served as International Secretary of the British Council of Churches. He died at Marylebone on 27 December 1975.
