An eminent preacher and a man of acute intellect with widely varied literary and theological interests, he wrote much to enrich the early Welsh WMs. He edited Yr Eurgrawn 1812-1814, contributing much himself, and was editor of the 1812 hymn-book and jointly responsible for that of 1817.
