Smith, F.W. Ambery, K-i-H
1861-1929; e.m. 1886

WM missionary to India, born in January 1861 at Manchester. In his early years he was influenced by W. Burt Pope. After training at Richmond College, he served in the Bengal District from 1886 to 1911. He established leper asylums at Raniganj and Bankura and his own home was open to those in need as orphans, sick, refugees or disowned converts. He died at Stoke-on-Trent on 1 March 1929.
