WM minister born on 8 February 1772 in Cornwall. A distinguished preacher, he was elected President of the 1827 Conference, which had to deal with the protests arising out of the Leeds Organ Case. He showed himself to be a staunch defender of what he perceived as Wesleyan discipline. Forced to retire in 1834 on health grounds, he lived for a time in seclusion and died at Brixton Hill, London on 29 Jamuary 1841.
