Walker, Frank Deaville
1878-1945

Journalist, editor and lecturer, born on 27 June 1878 in Manchester of Anglican parentage. He devoted his talents to furthering Methodist missionary history and home education, editing Foreign Field and then Kingdom Overseas for 30 years from 1914 and writing 38 annual WM Missionary Society reports. He was keenly interested in the missionary archives and important connexional and missionary artefacts held at the Bishopsgate Mission House and wrote lives of William Carey (1926) and Thomas Birch Freeman (1929) and books on Africa and India. In his youth he was challenged to dedicate his camera to the Lord's service and his work was frequently illustrated with the photographs he took on his travels. He died at Sidcup on30 October 1945
