WM missionary to southern Africa, born at Worcester on 13 April 1850. He was appointed to South Africa at the age of 23. He learned Afrikaans, married into a Boer family, built the first church in Pretoria, succeeded Owen Watkins as Chairman of the Transvaal-Swaziland District (1892-1901) and was also Principal of the celebrated Kilnerton Training Institution. He died in Pretoria on 21 May 1916.
