UMFC minister, born in Hull on 11 July 1822. He entered the ministry of the Teetotal Methodists in 1842 and served for ten years in Hayle. When the Teetotal Methodists joined the WMA in order to have a wider choice of ministers, he travelled widely in the UMFC ministry and held several connexional offices. His gifts gained him the title of 'the silver-tongued' and he was elected President in 1872. He retired to Rochdale in 1898 and died there on 11 July 1915.
