Walton, David Storry DL, LL.B
1956 -

Vice-President 2008-9, was born in Salford and educated at Manchester Grammar School (1967-74) and Sheffield University (1974-1977). He qualified as a solicitor in 1981 and became a partner in private practice in 1984. From 2002 to 2008 he was chairman of the European-American Lawyers Group. In 1998 he became a trustee of the D'Oyly Carte Opera Trust and its chairman in 2009. He became a local preacher in 1984 and has been involved in local church and circuit youth work and in an ecumenical youth theatre project in Eccles. He was chair of the Ecumenical Committee, member of the Faith and Order Committee ( 2004-2010), chair of the Law and Polity Committee (from 1997), Assistant Record Secretary of the Conference (1993-7), Record Secretary (1998-2007) and chair of the Methodist Council (from 2009). He became a director of Methodist Insurance in 2002 and chairman in 2010. He was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant for Greater Manchester in 2008.
