Northern Ireland Methodist and Unionist politician, and director of a Londonderry hosiery business, born 8 December 1871 in Co. Fermanargh. Elected toLondonderry City Council, he was Lord Mayor 1915 -1919 and Deputy Lieutenant. A member of the Northern Ireland Convention 1918 to 1919, he was the Member of Parliament for Londonderry, 1921-1929.
A son Albert Wesley Anderson (1907-1981) was born on 23 July 1907 in Co Londonderry. He was educated at Rydal School and Nottingham University, and served in the Royal Navy during the Second World War. He was Lord Mayor of Londonderry, 1963 -1968 and represented the constituency at Stormont as a Unionist, from a by-election on 16 May 1960 to 1972, where he held a ministerial post.
