Britton, George Bryant, MP
1863-1929

UM industrialist, of Kingswood, Bristol, he established the boot- and shoe-making firm of Bryant and Britton and was an advocate of conciliation and arbitration in industrial disputes. He was Superintendent of a UM Sunday School numbering over 1,000, As a Bristol City councillor he was responsible for initiating the tramway between the city and Kingswood and was Lord Mayor of Bristol in 1920 and Coalition Liberal MP for East Bristol East, 1918-1922. He died at Kingswood on 11 July 1929.
