Burnet, Amos
1857-1926; e.m. 1880

WM missionary in India and South Africa, born on 5 August 1857 at Little Steeping, near Spilsby. He ministered to the English congregation in Bangalore 1881-93 and was superintendent of the work in the Transvaal 1902-19, in the wake of the Boer War. His wife Esther was President of the African Women's Prayer Union from 1910 to 1919. In 1919 he became one of the WMMS Secretaries and was President of the Conference in 1924. He died on 1 August 1926.
