Clough, Dorothea
1889-1971

WM missionary in India, was born on 13 November 1889. She offered for the overseas work from Jesmond, Newcastle and served in the Hyderabad District 1920-1952. As Principal of the Wesley Girls' Middle and Normal Training School, Secunderabad, she gave outstanding service to women's education in the town and District, preparing able girls for higher education. Her crowning achievements were the school's promotion to full High School status and her handing over to the first Indian Principal in 1946. Her last six years were spent in rural schools where many of the staff were her own former pupils. She died on 14 August 1971.
