WM revivalist and powerful exponent of the doctrine of holiness, born at Solihull on 18 April 1810. He was the last major figure in the strongly revivalistic and mission school associated with William Bramwell and John Smith. He was widely revered as one who adorned the doctrine he preached. Although he was in difficulty from time to time with the Conference leadership, large increases attended his circuit ministry. Though remaining faithful to WM, he forged friendships with revivalists in other branches of Methodism. He died on 27 December 1864.
