PM minister, born at Tynemouth on 23 November 1798. In 1825 he married William Clowes' step-daughter. Until 1846 he itinerated in the north of England, then settled in Canada, where he becamePresident of the Conference in 1856, 1858 and 1865. He was appointed Book Steward in 1857 and Connexional Editor in 1858. He attempted to launch denominational newspapers, but succeeded only at the third attempt, with the Christian Journal in 1858. He wrote a life of Clowes in 1854.
He died on 1 March 1884.
