Gutteridge, Leslie Edward Stephen

Born in Edmonton, London, he was the first librarian in charge of the Wesley Historical Society's library when it was set up in the crypt of Wesley's Chapel in 1959. He was manager of the second-hand book department at the Methodist Publishing House nearby and specialized in books on cricket, turning the shop into a Mecca for cricketing enthusiasts. He himself wrote a well-researched history of Wisden in its centenary edition (1963). He emigrated to Canada and died in Edmonton, Alberta on 9 July 2000.
