UMFC and UM minister, born in Tavistock and trained for the UMFC ministry at their training Institute, spent most of his ministry in West Yorkshire, including Leeds from 1913 to 1932. He was known chiefly as the leader of the UM opposition to the Methodist Union of 1932, which he described in his pamphlet of 1926 as a 'dangerous deception'. Among other pamphlets he wrote A Plea for Justice and Ought we to accept a Ministerial Session?. He died in the spring of 1932, just before the Union he had so strenuously opposed.
