King, John
1746-1794/95

Born in Leicestershire, he went to Oxford and also obtained a medical qualification. In 1770 he sailed for America without waiting for Conference authority. He was accepted as an itinerant and worked in Philadelphia and Baltimore. In a letter of 28 July 1775 John Wesley warned him against screaming in the pulpit and crticized him for being 'stubborn and headstrong'. He left the itinerance in 1777 and died in 1794 or 1795.
