MNC, WMA and UMFC minister, born at Stockport on 21 December 1820. Having been appointed to Ireland, he resigned from the MNC in 1842 in sympathy with Joseph Barker and joined the WMA in 1844. He had an influential ministry over the next fifty years, serving in many of the most important UMFC circuits and holding many offices, including that of President in 1861. Among his publications were lives of Charles New and Robert Bushell. He died on 12 February 1894 and was interred in Lawnswood Cemetery,Leeds.
