Born at Kennington, London on 23 May 1908, he was Warden of the Wesley Deaconess Order from 1952 to 1964. During that period structural defects to the buildings at Ilkley were dealt with and a review of the training programme was initiated. He was Chairman of the West Yorkshire District from 1965 until his death at Crewe on 24 July 1974.
