The Nigeria Health Care Project was established in 1992 to raise money to support primary health care in Nigeria. NHCP is an initiative of the British Wesley Guild. The first coordinator, and current chair of NHCP was Peter Grubb, who was made a Knight of John Wesley by Methodist Church Nigeria in recognition of the work of NHCP.

A major landmark was passed in 2010 when a total of £1m had been raised since the inception of the Project. Funds raised in Britain are sent to support health and social care projects run by Methodist Church Nigeria. Dr David Cundall became coordinator at the beginning of 2011.
