Vice-President of the Conference 2012-13, was born in Birmingham, grew up in a Methodist family and later moved to Weston-super-Mare. He gained his London BA in History at the School of Oriental and African Studies (1968-71) and the Postgraduate Certificate of Education at King's College (1971-72). While travelling on a scholarship in Ghana he came to personal faith and was baptized and received into membership in 1971. After a short teaching appointment in London he offered for overseas service and was stationed, with his wife Isabel, to Segbwema, she as a doctor to the hospital, he as head of humanities to the girls' school at Njaluahun (1975-79). In 1978 he became an accredited Local Preacher.

After further teaching posts in Britain (1979-96) he was appointed Mission Education Secretary in the Connexional Team in 1997 and Team Leader for World Church Relationships in 2000. In October 2011 he became rural church and community co-ordinator for the Banbury Circuit. Positions held during his service with the Connexional Team include Moderator of the Churches' Mission Network of Churches Together in Britain and Ireland, Governor of the Selly Oak Centre for Mission Studies and Chair of the European Methodist Commission on Mission.

His publications include a contribution to Towards a Reconstruction of Mission Stories, ed. Raja, Ogden, Wauchope & Fernando (2010), and journal articles.
