UMFC minister, born at Strood on 7 April 1839, he itinerated in England until 1883 itinerating in England, including the London III circuit 1872-76 and Heywood Circuit 1878-83.
On health grounds, he sought a warmer climate and emigrated to Australia, where he itinerated in Brisbane for ten consecutive years. Superannuating there in 1910, he died on 30 August 1914. He was the Australian President in 1896.
In Brisbane, he joined the staff of the Evangelical Standard and had a significant literary output both in England and Australia, with at least ten titles. These included Bound for Australia on board the Orient: a passenger's log (1888) and a biography of the Hon. William Brookes (1902).
