UMFC minister, born at Mountsorrel, near Loughborough, on 11 April 18 1842. He served in circuits as widely apart as Edinburgh and Exeter and held several connexional offices, including that of Evangelical Secretary from 1892 to 1895. He edited the connexion's magazine for young people, Welcome Words, from 1877 to 1889. But his chief literary contribution was as the author of missionary stories for children and the biographer of Rebecca Wakefield and John Houghton. He died on 24 February 1914.
