Cockell, William Albert
1912 -2005

Vice-President of the Conference, 1975. He was born on 23 March 1912 at Newbury and was a member at Stroud Green Methodist Church. He became MYD's first District Evangelist in 1953, then its National Training Officer in 1961 and finally Secretary of the Division of Education and Youth. He encouraged a number of fund-raising efforts, such as 'Tractors for the Hungry'. A Ford Foundation Scholarship took him to the United States. He represented the United Kingdom at a UNESCO confeence in Europe and visited Rhodesia to advise on youth leadership training. He died at Newbury on 31 May 2005.
